Job Description

As a member of a Bitwise development team you will work alongside highly motivated, skilled and experienced engineers and take joint responsibility for developing embedded software on one of a range of exciting projects. Some of the world’s leading blue-chip OEMs rely on our support to give them a head start in their product developments. Working for us, you will design, implement, test, integrate, and maintain embedded software in areas as diverse as medical devices, defence systems, automotive and industrial control and payment terminals. Senior Software Engineers act as the main point of contact for matters within their own particular field of expertise within the company.

We have openings now at our headquarters in Dunfermline that provide an excellent opportunity for Senior Software Engineers skilled in embedded development. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Analyze high level requirements and translate them into detailed specifications and designs;
  • Propose solutions to technical issues, obtain approvals and work with the team to deliver software that complies with the relevant standards;
  • Plan your work schedule and co-ordinate planning with your team;
  • Produce high quality, efficient, maintainable code, on time and in accordance with the business requirements;
  • Ensure software development practices, processes and standards are maintained, including performing design reviews, code reviews, testing, mentoring, providing technical presentations and producing documentation;
  • Identify, investigate, and resolve issues and undertake improvements as necessary;
  • Be influential with regard to architecture, design, and implementation of Bitwise software with our clients.

  • Your Profile

    Typical preferred candidate profile:

  • Degree educated in an appropriate technical discipline, ideally Computer Science or similar
  • Planning skills, results driven and experienced in commercial software development
  • Previous technical leadership would be an advantage but is not essential
  • Thorough understanding of at least one of C, C++, C#
  • Background in Agile development is an advantage
  • Adaptable and quick to pick up new tools and technologies
  • Experience in implementing software to meet industry standards
  • Knowledge of safety/quality standards and a positive, critical attitude to quality are desirable
  • Strong cooperation skills (a team player that can listen, understand, discuss, communicate and convince)
  • Willingness to travel when required
